HOW TO Prep for your session
Get yourself pampered, if you feel great you will look confident!
Professional hair and makeup is always something I highly suggest. Especially since these images will be shown all over your web and social sites over the next year or two. My makeup artist and stylist Simone is amazing!! If you have already booked a session and didn't include hair and makeup, I will be happy to set this up for you if you decide to do so. You’ll walk away with a look ready for the camera!
HOME
It’s nearly impossible to resist the urge to tan prior to your session, but when it comes to photos there are so many benefits to keeping your skin's luminous natural glow. Applying a spray tan coats the skin and makes it photograph dull and murky.
Plus, it’s really hard to work around those stubborn areas that catch the color – like hands, fingers and neck. So enjoy however pale or deep your skin is and you’ll see how radiant it looks in photos and if you must take 10-15 minutes the day before your session and sit in the sun to get a little glow.
Just say no to spray tans
nails
Get a fresh manicure the day or two before you session. Neutral pinks and pale nude are great for a polished look or do a pop of color for a bit more sass! If you are wearing open toed shoes, don't forget about your toes too.
Hydrate
Hydrating is very important before your session. This includes drinking plenty of water the day before your session so that you skin is hydrated and fresh. Try to avoid alcohol the night before as it will dehydrate you.
how to arrive to your hair & Makeup session
DOING YOUR OWN HAIR AND MAKEUP
If you are doing your own hair and makeup please arrive completely ready to shoot. Apply a bit more makeup than you usually would since the way I shoot softens the skin a bit. Blush or bronzer is always a great idea but, avoid highlighter since that will appear streaky or oily on camera. If you would like to bring touch up powder and lip color as well as a flat or curling iron in case hair falls a bit between your house and my studio.
DOING PROFESSIONAL HAIR AND MAKEUP
If you are getting hair and makeup done by the artists I recommend please arrive with your face moisturized and no other makeup.
Brows should be groomed. Have the artist do a full airbrush makeup application. If you have a photo of yourself or some type of inspirational images of a look you like, feel free to bring it as an example.
Hair should be freshly washed and dried and free of product. If you hair is naturally curly and you would like to wear it that way, please style as usual and artist will touch up your curls.
Please bring your own lip color so we can reapply later in your session if needed as well as bringing a loose powder or blotting tissues in case we need to blot your T zone.
